Paleo Pizza
Paleo diet, usually referred to as caveman diet or the Paleolithic diet, involves natural foods to improve your health and physique. Over more than 2 million years, the human body has developed on natural food such as fish, game meat, vegetables, eggs, wild fruits, and nuts. Humans were surviving on diet that had high fat and proteins content, but low in carbohydrates. All this changed when unnatural foods were introduced.
Paleo pizza is a type of pizza that is found under the paleo diets. Another regular pizza that is well known is the meatza. Instead of the regular dough, the crust is formed from ground beef.
Crust ingredients
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup of almond meal
4 eggs
½ cup of coconut flour
½ cup coconut milk
3 tbsp olive oil (extra-virgin)
Topping ingredients
3 chopped artichoke hearts
1 tsbp coconut oil
A little tomato pesto
8 sliced button mushrooms
8 chopped sun-dried tomatoes
50 to 100g cooked ham
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 375F.
Begin by preparing the crust.
Combine almond meal, coconut floor, garlic powder and baking powder in a large bowl.
Mix the wet ingredients to remove and eliminate clumping.
The batter's texture seems a bit different than common pizza dough, but after it's cooked it takes the right form.
Pour the batter, and then spread it well to cover the whole surface on a pizza pan that is greased and rimmed well.
Put the crust in your oven, and then let it bake for around 15 to 20 minutes.
Put all your prepared toppings onto the baked crust.
Slice the mushrooms and heat them with coconut oil under medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
Spread sauce on the crust, as you like. Sprinkle sun-dried tomatoes, cooked mushrooms and artichokes and then use ham to top them.
Bake the pizza now for 10 more minutes to allow the toppings cook.
Enjoy your paleo pizza with your family and friends.
